Allen W. Coburn Sr. age 84, passed away at his home in Hampstead, NH on Tuesday, June 26, with his family by his side.
He was born in Boston, MA, on September 12, 1927, but was raised and educated in Salem, NH. He was a long time resident of Salem, before moving to Danville, NH, and retiring to Lake Placid, FL. He had just recently moved back to NH.
Mr. Coburn was employed by Raytheon Corporation for 35 years.
He served the US Services in both the Navy, at the age of 17, as a corpsman during World War II and again with the Marines, as a medic, during the Korean Conflict. Part of his Naval service included the participation in Operation Highjump aboard the USS Carrier, Philippine Sea with Admiral Byrd to the South Pole.
He and his family were early and active members of St. David’s Episcopal Church in Salem, where he served as Warden for many years. In his free time he enjoyed gardening and hiking. He took great pride in his handyman skills, but no one was happier than his lucky recipients. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
He is survived by his Beloved Wife of 58 years:

He was especially proud of his 5 grandchildren: Caitlin, Allison, Sarah, Maura, & Benjamin. He was also a loving uncle to many nieces & nephews
His memorial Services will be held Saturday, June 30th at 1PM at St. David’s Episcopal Church, Salem, NH.
