Helen Katherine Johnson Doxtater, 74, of Clarksville, TN, died on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Gateway Medical Center. She was born on January 1, 1938 in Montgomery County, Tennessee to the late Onus Johnson and Ruby Atkins Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her former husband, Jack M. Farmer; daughter, Melody M. Poole; brother, Homer E. Johnson; two sisters, Mavis Merritt and Mildred Booth.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Tom Lynch officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 28, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. and Friday, June 29, 2012 from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Helen was a devoted homemaker. She was a member of New Providence Church of Christ. She was a member of Skyline Senior Bowling League. She had been a den mother for the cub scouts. She was past girl scout troop leader at New Providence United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald D. Doxtater of Clarksville, TN; three sons, Robert R. Poole, II (Diane) of Okemah, OK, Charles E. Poole (Leigh) of Clarksville, TN, and Dale Shelton (Mary) of Columbia, TN; two step-sons, Danny M. Doxtater and Ronald D. Doxtater, Jr. of Clarksville, TN; two daughters, Alaine Davis of Clarksville, TN and Debbie S. Walsh of Irmo, SC; two sisters, Peggy Johnson of Martinez, GA and Ora Mae Smalley of Harrisonville, PA; eighteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
