Edward F. Smith, 73, of Sandown, NH died Friday June 22, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 26, 1939 in Quincy, MA. Edward was raised by Eric and Molly Bell in Melrose, MA, before moving to Lowell, MA and spending the last 33 years in Sandown, NH. He loved the lake, going boating, and trips to the Cape especially to the town of Truro, MA. Edward had a passion for his work and loved finish carpentry and working in his workshop. He was very proud of the garage he built that housed his workshop.
He is survived by his loving companion of 33 years, Barbara Cameron of Sandown, NH, four children, Lisa Conley and her husband Don of Pleasanton, CA, Sharon Janda and her husband John of Lowell, MA, Donna Couture and her husband Dennis of Nashua, NH, Michelle Echevarria and her husband Jorge of Salinas, Puerto Rico, Barbara’s three children, Richard Holzman of Windham, NH, Karen DeVitto and her husband John of Atkinson, NH, James Holzman and his wife Kathleen of Derry, NH, 21 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one brother, Roy Smith of Melrose, MA, and one sister, Sandy Smith of Beverly, MA.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a memorial service was held on Wednesday June 27th at 11:00 AM in St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, Route 121A (Main Street), Sandown. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry, NH assisted the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01710, earmark for Pancreatic Cancer research.
