Crawford, Elizabeth Mae Kirkorian (Betty) passed away peacefully at her home on June 22, 2012 after a 16 year courageous battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). She was born on Valentine’s Day in 1935 in Nashua, New Hampshire to the late Charles and Evelyn O'Toole Kirkorian. Betty graduated from Nashua High School, attended the University of Louisville and loved the Cards. She was a member for over forty years at St. Edward Catholic Church in Jeffersontown, Ky. Betty retired from the Jefferson County Court System.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Shirley Dion, of Nashua, New Hampshire, and an infant son, Karl Joseph Crawford. Betty is survived by her husband Kenneth of over 55 years, her loving children Karen Crawford (Steve Sample), Kathleen (John) Williams, Kenneth Crawford II, and Kevin (Deadra) Crawford; her wonderful grandchildren Evan and Elizabeth Williams, and Jenna, Brent, Brian, Hope and Faith Sample, and great-grandchild Jackson Carr. Betty donated her body to the University of Louisville School of Medicine in the hope that it would assist future physicians in their medical training and help them to gain knowledge of the effects of COPD.
Special thanks to all of our family, friends, and the staff at Baptist Hospital East Pulmonary Rehab unit for the prayers, support and loving attention during the long hard fought battle. We could not have done it without you. Sandy, Diana, Kaye and Todd of Hosparus were angels to Betty, and have our eternal gratitude.
Visitation with the family will be from 3 pm to 8 pm Tuesday, June 26 at Owen Funeral Home.
