Obituary

FARMINGTON, NH: Philip J. McCarthy, 28, died unexpectedly on Monday, June 18, 2012.
Born in Beverly on July 29, 1983, he was the loving son of Julie A. (Folk) McCarthy of Beverly and Philip E. McCarthy of S. Hamilton. Philip was raised in S. Hamilton and was a graduate of Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School class of 2001. He was currently studying computer science at Phoenix University.
A U.S. Marine Corps veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, he was a proud member of the 3rd AAVN Battalion, which was decorated with a Presidential Unit Citation. He was honorably discharged as a Lance Corporal on June 25, 2009.
Philip loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and boating. His favorite place was at Raquette Lake in the Adirondack Mountains of New York, where he spent many summers.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his companion, Gina Teolis and their sweet daughter, Starlett Eve McCarthy both of Farmington; two sisters, Kaitlin McCarthy and her companion, James Gilbert of Rowley and Robyn McCarthy of Beverly; his grandmother, Jane (Folk) Werner and her husband, George of Rochester, NY; several aunts and uncles, Linda Jarzynka of Salem, Lauren and John Cain of Peabody, Susan and Mark Gilkey of Millis and George and Lisa Folk of Whitehouse Station, NJ; a nephew, Damien Gilbert of Rowley and several cousins, Christopher Jarzynka, Jason Hersey, Justin Cain, Calvin and Jackson Gilkey and Robert and Anthony Folk. He was also predeceased by his grandparents, Irwin and Wilma McCarthy and Robert Folk and his uncle, Ronald Jarzynka.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday in The Church of St. Paul, 50 Union St., S. Hamilton at 9 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Friday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot St., Beverly from 4 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the “Starlett E. McCarthy Educational Fund”, Attn: Heidi DeFranco, People’s United Bank, 240 Cabot St., Beverly, MA 01915.
