David M. Maher, a 5 year resident of Woburn, and former 15 year resident of Wakefield and longtime resident of Saugus, passed into eternal life on Monday, June 18, 2012 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington following a lengthy illness. He was 60 years old.
David was born in Melrose on July 11, 1951, a son of Dorothy M. (Brennan) Maher and David L. Maher. David grew up in the Golden Hills section of Saugus and attended Saugus Public Schools and graduated from Saugus High School in 1969. He enlisted into the United States Army on August 6, 1969 and served his country proudly and honorably during the Vietnam Conflict. He was discharged on March 9, 1971 with the rank of Private First Class. David worked as an ironworker for more than 25 years and was a member of the Ironworkers Union Local # 7.
David is the devoted father of Michelle Maher of Wakefield, Jessica Bloomer of Peabody, Christopher Maher of North Reading, Justin of Wakefield, Michael of Arlington, Lindsay Maher of Medford and Meredith Maher of Quincy. He is the loving Grampy to Joseph, Avery, Christian and Jack. He is the beloved son of Dorothy M. (Brennan) Maher of Saugus and the late David L. Maher. He is the beloved brother of Maralyn Dragonetti of Saugus, Judith Whyte of Saugus, Priscilla Coughlin of Topsfield and Catherine Maher of North Carolina.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend David's Funeral on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Wakefield/Melrose line followed by his Funeral Mass in The Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 10:30 a.m. Interment is private. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
