New Bedford – Mary Etta (Potter) Lucas, 80, of E. Freetown died after a brief illness at St. Luke’s Hospital on May 2, 2004. She was the widow of John E. “Bud” Lucas, Sr.
Mrs. Lucas was born in Freetown, daughter of the late Warren S. and Ellen A. (Woodis) Potter, and was a lifelong resident of Freetown. She was a member of the South Christian Church of All Nations, Freetown. She was employed as a trimmer by the former Eastern Sportswear, New Bedford.
Mrs. Lucas enjoyed sewing, embroidery and doll collecting. She was loved and cherished by many and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include: 3 daughters: Claire E. Housewright of New Bedford, Mary R. Lackie of New Bedford and June E. Lackie of Maine; 2 sons: John E. Lucas, Jr. of New Bedford and Warren P. Lucas of Florida; many many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
She was sister of the late Marjorie Reynolds and mother of the late Alan I. Lucas.

Funeral service on Friday, May 7, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. at the KIRBY FUNERAL HOME, 61 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford.
Interment in Reynolds Cemetery, E. Freetown.
