Obituary

WEBSTER – Walter J. “Chuck” Connor, 90, died Sunday, June 17, 2012 in Lanessa Extended Care after a period of declining health. His wife of 54 years, Josephine J. (Chmielewicz) Connor, died in 2006.
He leaves 3 children, James P. Connor and his wife Carol of Houston, TX, Maria S. Gadoury and her husband James of Woodstock, CT, and John P. Connor and his wife Jennifer M. of Webster; 7 grandchildren, Nicholas, Travis, Patrick, Tighe, Ryan, Rachel and Kelsey-Jo; a brother, William Connor of Florida; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Raymond and Joseph Connor.
He was born and raised in Southbridge, a son of Walter F. and Eileen (Cuddihy) Connor. He graduated from Saint Mary’s High School in Southbridge in 1941. He lived in Webster for most of his life.
Mr. Connor was a foreman for over 20 years at Pratt-Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, CT before retiring in 1984. Afterwards, he worked as a consultant.
A lover of sports, he played semi-pro basketball and also played baseball. He was invited to try out for the Boston Celtics at the same time as “The Rifleman” Chuck Connors.
Funeral services will be held privately. There are no calling hours. Donations in his name may be made to Alzheimer’s Support Network, PO Box 839, Southbridge, MA 01550. Arrangements are under the direction of Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main Street, Webster.
