Reba Sineath Wilder Cannington, 96 years old and a longtime resident of Tifton, died Sunday, June 17, 2012, at Smith Northview Hospital in Valdosta. For the past several years, Mrs. Cannington ha resided at Sparks Retirement Home and Heritage Healthcare at Lakeview in Valdosta. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Jason Jones and Rev. O. L. Stokes will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Cannington was born on August 11, 1915 in Tifton and was the daughter of Dr. William McCullen Sineath and Carlie Camilla McClelland Sineath, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, L. T. Wilder and Harvey Cannington; one brother, Pasco Sineath; and one sister, Lillian S. Fournier. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Tifton since 1939, where she taught the Primary Department Sunday school for many years, and worked at the ABAC Bookstore. She was also very active in the local Red Cross, especially its Blood Drives, and volunteered with the Hospital "Gray Ladies" and Meals on Wheels.
Mrs. Cannington is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mac and Fabiola Wilder of Tifton and H. D. and Cheryl Cannington, Jr. of Madison; one daughter, June Cannington Elmore of Valdosta; and twelve grandchildren, Wendi Wilder Greene, Zac Wilder, Preston Wilder, Oscar Alvarez, Linda Garcia, Traci Elmore Ludlum, Broc Elmore, Shanna Elmore, Brian Cannington, Carlie Cannington Kokoska, Ben Cannington and Ray Cannington; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
