TEWKSBURY - Anthony M. "Tony" Masone, age 67, died Saturday evening, June 16, surrounded by his beloved family, after a courageous seven and one half year battle with brain cancer. He was the husband of Beverly A. (Malfa) Masone, with whom he had celebrated a 47th wedding anniversary this past May 21st.
He was born in Boston, December 17, 1944, a son of the late Noe and Josephine (D'Agnese) Masone, raised in the Dorchester section of Boston, graduated from Dorchester High School, but had lived in Tewksbury most of his life.
He worked as a Truck Driver beginning at Corkum Company, later at Multi Systems company in Lawrence, and retired from R Squared Company. He was a member of Local 25, AFL-CIO Teamsters.
He was well known for his sharp wit, and was famous for his one line "zingers." He was a gardener, and enjoyed a fine cigar and cribbage matches with his sons. He relaxed watching his favorite old western movies.
He will be remembered as having devoted his life to his beloved family.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons and their spouses, Anthony M. Masone Jr., and his wife Christine (Demarco), Stephen J. Masone and his wife Dana (Zappulla) all of Windham, NH, Marc J. Masone and his wife Joanne (Goodchild) of Newburyport; a daughter and son-in-law, De Ann Butler and her husband Justin of Tewksbury; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Michael, Alec, Tyler, Alexandra, Matthew, Paige, Jenny, and Kyle Masone; a sister, Josephine Deegan of Hyannis; three brothers, Albert Masone and his wife Debbie of Nahant, Frank Masone and his wife Margaret of Framingham, and Vinnie Masone of Braintree; his mother-in-law, Anna (Benner) Malfa of Wilmington; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Stephen and Paula Malfa of Tewksbury, Joseph Malfa and Sandra Morse both of Wilmington; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also brother of the late John Masone.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, June 20, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial followed at Wildwood Cemetery in Wilmington. Memorials to the Tufts Medical Center Trust, Brain Tumor Center, 800 Washington St., Box 231, Boston, MA 02111.
