Gertrude Holt Peacock, age 97, died Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Yalobusha General Nursing Home in Water Valley, MS. She was born September 14, 1914 in Yalobusha County to the late Leroy and Emma Jane Crow Holt. Gertrude was a long time resident of Coffeeville, MS and worked for years as a dispatcher for the Yalobusha County Sheriff's Office. She was an active member of the Coffeeville Church of Christ for many years and she loved her family and friends. Gertrude enjoyed cooking, gardening and reading her Bible.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 17, 2012 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation at 2:00 PM in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks with Bro. Don Robertson officiating. Burial will be in the Ford’s Well Cemetery in Yalobusha County, MS with Les Turner, Dewayne Byford, Kevin Turner, John Turner, Jason McCullough and Jason Purdy serving as pallbearers. John Wayne Purdy and Jim Peters will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Sue Peacock Cook of New Albany, MS; seven grandchildren, Charlie and Tommy Peacock, Quay Peacock (Shelia), Cathy Rogers Scheafer (Calvin), Shane and Craig Cook, and Carla Fly (Paul); and ten great-grandchildren, Sarah Peacock, Jordon Scheafer (Amanda), Halie and Patricia Cook, Shelby, James and Anna Cook, Kimberly Hickman, Amanda Bardo (Michael), and Cherish Holcomb (Tommy).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Prince “Jack” Peacock; two sons, Deral Lynn Peacock and Charles Allen Peacock; and and two grandchildren, Dana and Jackie Peacock.
