
Arthur F. Porter, Jr., 84, of Worcester, died Saturday, June 16th in Odd Fellows Home. His wife, Barbara A. (Cronin) Porter, died in 1997. He leaves a son, James A. Porter of Worcester; a daughter, Sharon A.P. Schedin and her husband Mark of Worcester; a granddaughter, Jennifer E. Perchak of Worcester; four great grandchildren, Daniel Horner, Layne Perchak, Isabella Perchak, and Lillian Perchak; and a close friend and neighbor, Al Sawtell.
He was born in Worcester, the son Arthur F. Porter, Sr. and Grace E. (Convery) Porter, graduated from North High School and the Worcester School of Business Science. Mr. Porter was a manager at City Finance Company, and had also worked in financial sales at Webster Credit Union.
Mr. Porter was a former member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church, and for more than 60 years, was a member of the Civitan Club, having served as Past President, Secretary, and Treasurer. He was a member of the Greendale Improvement Society, American Legion Greendale Post 319, the Blackstone Valley and Worcester Area Chambers of Commerce, and was a Past President of the Worcester Leaders Exchange. He was a World War II U.S. Navy disabled veteran. His family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Odd Fellows Home and UMass Memorial Hospice for the compassionate care they provided for Arthur.
The funeral is Tuesday, June 19th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 11:30 A.M. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 25 Fales Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Monday, June 18th in the funeral home.
