Obituary

John P. Conlan, 56, of Summer Winds Farm, Acushnet died of a heart attack on Thursday June 14, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital.

Born in New York City, the son of the late John L. and Dorothy M. (Arruda) Conlan, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.

Mr. Conlan was employed as a commercial fisherman and previously worked for the Steamship Authority and High Point Treatment Center in Plymouth. He was also the owner and operator of Summer Winds Farm.

He was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School, where he played football. He loved freshwater fishing and bow hunting. He was the owner of I.F.C. Three Jay Mac from Canada, was an A.K.C. field trial judge and member of the Paskamansett Beagle Club.
Summer Winds Farm will be forever grateful to David Costa of Chipaway Stables for showing us a new way of life, agricultural and equine.
He is survived by his fiancée, Anita Jardin Davis; his children, Matthew Conlan and Melissa Hinckley; his brother, Thomas M. Conlan and his wife Patricia; two grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew; and many good friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 20th at 6 PM in the Seamen's Bethel, 15 Johnny Cake Hill, New Bedford. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, June 19th from 5-7 PM.
