Worcester--Alice V. (Pearson) Haines, 99, of 30 Beeching Street, died Saturday, May 1, 2004, in UMass Memorial Medical Center--Memorial Campus. Her husband of 66 years, Paul E. Haines, died in 1991. She leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Lois H. and Harold Brown, 2 sons, Paul M. Haines of Rutland and Robert E. and his wife, Edna Haines of Princeton; 8 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Haines raised many foster children.
Alice was born in Westborough, daughter of Nils and Anna (Elzane) and was a graduate of Commerce High School. She had worked for Worcester Jr. College, Lundborg Jewelers, and Atty. Aram Garabedian. Alice was a member of Burncoat Baptist Church, Clement Chapter of Eastern Star and had served a Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls #9. She was a friend to all and showed her friendship by writing hundreds of letters. She also loved to travel.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 5, in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. A calling period will be 1 hour before the service.
