Obituary

Tiverton, RI – Ralph E. Borden, Sr., 69, loving husband of 48 years to Judith A. (Marshall), of Tiverton, RI, died at home Saturday, May 01, 2004 with his family by his side.

He was born in Fall River, son of the late Arthur Borden, Sr. and the late Cora ( St. Jean) Borden, and resided there until moving to Tiverton in 1974. He was employed as a truck driver for the former Consolidated Freightways, Fall River and for ROADWAY, Westport until his retirement in 1999. He attended Bristol Community College where he studied business classes.

Mr. Borden was a serviceman in the Army Rangers as a paratrooper in the 272 D Infantry Regiment stationed in Fort Dix, New Jersey. He volunteered much of his time to the youth of Tiverton as a coach for the Tiverton Junior Basketball League and the Tiverton Baseball Senior League, and as an umpire and player agent for the Tiverton Little League, he also served as a coach for the Tiverton Men’s Softball League. He was a member of Local 526 Fall River, who enjoyed collecting coins and was an avid fisherman.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by 3 sons: Ralph E. Borden, Jr. of Adamsville, RI, Michael R. Borden of Tiverton and Douglas J. Borden of Tiverton; a brother: Arthur Borden, Jr. of Bradenton, FL; a sister: Barbara Marques of Fall River; 6 grandchildren: Christopher M. Borden, Nicholas A. Borden, Daniel T. Borden, Aaron D. Borden, Karyssa L. Holewka and Kaitlynn M. Borden; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Lois Kershaw.

Services to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at the POTTER FUNERAL HOME, 81 Reed Road, Westport.

Calling hours Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 P.M.

Interment in Pocasset Hill Cemetery, Tiverton.
