BARBARA (TINKHAM) CONANT, of Hingham, died on Monday, June 11th, 2012 at the age of 88. Beloved wife of the late Dwight L. Conant, Jr. and devoted mother of Donna Tortorella of Southborough, MA and Dwight L. Conant, III of Ormond Beach, FL and North Conway, NH. Loving grandmother of Jessica, Sarah, Jaclyn and Carolyn. Also survived by 5 great grandchildren and her brothers, John and Donald Tinkham.
Barbara was born in Boston and grew up in Melrose, MA. She graduated from Colby Junior College. While living in Hingham, she was active in the Red Cross Blood Mobile, the Hingham Visiting Nurse Association and the altar guild of The Church of St. John the Evangelist in Hingham. Barbara was also a member of the Hingham Yacht Club, the Hingham Tennis Club and the South Shore Country Club.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Saturday, June 23rd at 10 AM at The Church of St. John the Evangelist, 172 Main St., Hingham. Visiting hours and flowers omitted by request. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Hingham Public Library, 66 Leavitt St., Hingham, MA 02043. The interment is private.
