TAUNTON – Joseph Rebelo Mello, the former husband of Irene (DeAndrade) Mello Eugenio, died at the Champion Rehabilitation & Health Center in Brockton on June 9, 2012 at the age of 77.
He had been a Brockton resident for the past nine years.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Carlos R. and Maria A. (Fagundes) Mello, he moved to the US in 1952 and resided in Warren RI, later moving to Taunton where he lived for many years.
Mr. Mello worked as a buffer in Taunton area factories, including the Rosemar Silver Company and Princess House, and was a communicant of St. Anthony Church.
He enjoyed bicycling, fishing and playing the guitar.
Mr. Mello was an avid Red Sox fan.
Besides his former wife of Taunton, he leaves a son, David Mello of Taunton; a daughter, Rosemary Chaves and her husband Louis of Taunton; four brothers, Carlos R. Mello of Tucson, AZ, Anthony R. Mello of Assonet, Francis R. Mello of N. Attleboro and Henry Mello of Taunton; four grandchildren, Cheston Chaves, Heather Koulouris, and Meagan and Emily Mello, all of Taunton; two great grandchildren, Nathan and Ellie Koulouris, both of Taunton; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Saturday, June 16th at 11 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 12 Noon.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, June 15th from 5 to 8 p.m.
