Obituary

Grace (Piro) Battaglioli 95, of Natick and formerly of Somerville died Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the Elizabeth Seton Residence in Wellesley.

She was the beloved wife of the late Bruno Battaglioli who died in 2001, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Somerville she was the daughter of the late Pietro and Carmella (Botta) Piro.

Grace graduated from Somerville High School class of 1934, where she excelled in women’s sports; she was captain of the tennis team and played field hockey and basketball.

She was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed playing golf and bridge in her later years with her husband in Winter Haven, Florida and at Foxborough Country Club.

Grace was dedicated to her family and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her four children, Victor Battaglioli and his wife Margaret of Colchester, CT; Peter Battaglioli and his wife Susan of Duxbury, Grace Mahoney and her husband James of Natick, Carol Hamilton and her husband Mark of Hanover, one brother Joseph Piro of Somerville, five grandchildren, Peter John, Victor Joseph, Leah, Lisa, Andrew, four great–grandchildren, Victoria, Caitlin, Gemma, Sophia, and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Nicholas Piro, Gaetano Piro, James Piro and Mary Franzosa.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 16th at 11:00 A.M. in St Linus Church, 119 Hartford Street, Natick.

Visiting hours are on Saturday morning beginning at 9:30 A.M prior to the Mass in the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common.
