Catherine Chapman, age 91 and long-time resident of Water Valley, MS, died at her home Monday, June 11, 2012. She was born in Mineral Wells, MS to the late George and Fannie Cartman Darling. Catherine enjoyed life to the fullest, loved to fish, and took great pride in growing flowers and vegetables, which enhanced her reputation as an excellent cook. She was a member of Sylva Rena Baptist Church.
Funeral services are planned for 1 PM Friday, June 15, 2012 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. James West officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service and interment will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.
Catherine is survived by a son, Mike Griffin and his wife Susan, of Beavercreek, OH; two daughters, Katherine Lee Brown and husband Robert, of Montgomery, AL, and Barbara Hendrix of Memphis, TN; one sister, Jean Shinn of Victoria MS; and two grandchildren, Patricia Mason and her husband Jeff of Ocean Springs, MS, and Pamela James and her husband Perry of Little Rock, AR, a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, a very special, full-time, live-in caregiver, Marcy Dudley of Coffeeville, MS, and another loving caregiver, Mary Ann Chapman of Water Valley, MS.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Chapman, one son, James Currie, four loving sisters, Bertie, Beatrice, Ethel, and Doris, one brother, Joseph Darling, and a grandson, Michael.
