Obituary

Jack Harrell, 79, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Friday, April 30, 2004, at the University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, May 2, 2004, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Irwin County. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. John Gibbs, Jr. and Rev. Tracy Clements will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Ocilla from 7 to 9 P.M. Saturday evening.

Mr. Harrell was born February 24, 1925, in Coffee County, Georgia to the late James and Bertha Mae Harper Harrell. He lived in Irwin County most of his life and was a retired farmer. Mr. Harrell served in the United States Army during World War II, serving in the European Theatre. He was an avid foxhunter and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Irwin County.

Mr. Harrell is survived by his wife: Carolyn Smith Harrell, Ocilla; two daughters: Lynn H. Taylor, Lake Blackshear, GA and Deborah Harrell, Columbus, GA; five grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter; one brother: Henry Harrell, Enterprise, AL; one sister: Virginia Williams, Highlands, NC; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
