TAUNTON – Wayne F. Butler, husband of Pamela J. (Travers) Butler, to whom he was married for thirty-one years, died at the New Bedford Rehabilitation Hospital on June 11, 2012, following a period of failing health.
He was 59.
Born and raised in Taunton, he was the son of the late Frederick and Marjorie (Goyette) Butler.
A graduate of Taunton High School, Wayne later received a degree from Curry College.
He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
A Sergeant with the Boston Housing Authority Police Dept. for twenty years, Wayne retired several years ago.
More recently, he was employed as a Constable for the City of Taunton.
In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed fishing, scuba diving, cooking, camping on Race Point Beach, and spending time with his family.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony Church.
In addition to his wife of Taunton, he leaves his son, Shayne R. Millward and his wife Tammy of Taunton; his daughter, Jennifer Scheuer and her husband Brian of Norwich, NY; his sons, Erik and Jonathan Butler, both of Taunton; six grandchildren, Emma Grace Scheuer, Jonathan Butler, Jr. Collin Heath Scheuer, Nathan and Kali Millward, and Sadie Butler; a niece, Dawn Urian and family of CT; and two nephews, Scott Smith of NH and Dwaine Cabeceiras of Westport.
He was also the father of the late Heath Millward.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday, June 15th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 10 a.m.
Committal Services with Military Honors will be held at the MA National VA Cemetery in Bourne at 12:45 p.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 14th from 5 to 8 p.m.
