
Mr. Stephen R. Perry 75 of Truro died June 9, 2012 at his home after living with Joseph’s disease for many years. He was the husband of Claire (Berger) Perry. Mr. Perry was born in Truro on his family’s farm of the same name. He is the son of Lucy (Athanasiou) Perry of Truro and the late John S. Perry. Following his graduation from Provincetown High School he went to UMass in Stockbridge and earned a two year degree in farming. From there he spent two years in the marines before returning to Truro. He was a member of the Truro board of selectman from 1964 to 1974. He was a long time member of the Provincetown Lions Club and an Incorporator at Seamen’s Bank for over 15 years. While managing the family farm, overseeing the retail business and raising a growing family, he was able to return to UMass and complete a 4 year degree program.
For him, farming was not a job it was a way of life. He carried on a tradition that began with his great grand parents in the 1800s, a tradition that is now continued by his children.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by 3 daughters, Cheryl Costa and her husband David, Debra Locke and her husband Mike and Samantha Perry all of Truro, two of his sons, Scott of Truro and Stephen of Brooklyn, NY, his 6 grandchildren, Elizabeth and Molly Costa, Mike and Andrew Locke, Diana Duarte and Brandon Perry. His son David died in December of 2009. He is the brother of Richard B. Perry and his wife Cynthia of Provincetown and was the former husband of Jeanne (Peck) Davis of Truro.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday June 12, 2012 at 10;00AM in the Provincetown United Methodist Church 20 Shank Painter Rd. Provincetown. There are no public visiting hours.
