HAVERHILL: Roland L. Sansoucie, 86, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 peacefully in the Penacook Place Nursing Home.
He was born in Haverhill on June 10, 1925, he was the son of the late Leo E. and Eva A. (Girard) Sansoucie. Roland was a lifelong resident of Haverhill and a graduate of Haverhill High School class of 1944.
Roland was a creative man and worked as a bow designer for Colonial Shoe Ornament and also as a shoe designer for Gallagher Shoe Patterns for many years. He was a member of Sacred Hearts Church. Roland enjoyed theatre and was active in theatre groups in Haverhill and Lawrence. His love of theatrics led him to play the title role in the “King & I” for Sacred Hearts Church. A man of artistic talent he belonged to the Haverhill Art Association and won several awards in different mediums. In his later years he specialized in collages.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Theresa Sansoucie; several nieces & nephews and his good friend, Dennis Pelosi. He was also predeceased by his twin sister, Rachelle Faloney and his brothers, Girard and Leo Sansoucie.
The Sansoucie family would like to thank the Merrimack Valley Hospice and Penacook Place for their care of Roland and their support during these difficult times.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday in the Sacred Hearts Chapel, 165 S. Main St., Bradford at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are welcomed to attend. At the request of the family, there are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to the Penacook Place Nursing Home, 150 Water St., Haverhill, MA 01830.
