Verlion Williamson Smith, 79, of Ben Hill County, Georgia, died Friday, April 30, 2004, at Dorminy Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 2, 2004, at Salem Baptist Church, Ben Hill County with Rev. Tommy Land, Jr., Rev. Danny Lovett and Rev. J.A. Clements officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00, Saturday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Smith was born January 20, 1925, in Ben Hill County, Georgia to the late G.F.A. and Appie Paul Williamson and was preceded in death by her husband, Avery Smith. She lived in the community all of her life and worked as a supervisor at H.R. Kaminsky & Sons for over twenty years. Mrs. Smith was a member of Salem Baptist Church, a Sunday School and Training Union teacher, Sunday School secretary and W.M.U. director. She was a Pink Lady at Dorminy Medical Center, a good cook and loving mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her son Fred Smith, Ben Hill County; two daughters: Jo Ann S. White, Fitzgerald and Betty S. Courson, Cordele; ten grandchildren and twenty-seven great grandchildren; one sister: Adele Land, Fitzgerald; three brothers: Buck Williamson and J.W. Williamson, both of Fitzgerald and T.M. Williamson, Waycross, GA; several nieces and nephews.
