Anthony C. Spadorcia, 74, died Friday morning at Beverly Hospital. He was the husband of Joan (McDonough) Spadorcia, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.
Born in Boston on Sept. 21, 1937, he was the son of the late Domenic and Palmira (Barrasso) Spadorcia. He was raised and educated in East Boston and was a graduate of East Boston High School. He went on to further his education with a bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University and a master’s degree from Salem State.
For many years, Mr. Spadorcia was a teacher, coach, and then assistant principal at Danvers High School. In 1982 he left his teaching career to become the Adjutant General of the Massachusetts National Guard. Following his term as Adjutant General, he served as U.S. Property and Fiscal Officer in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Colonel in 1997.
An avid sports fan, he was a Boston Bruins lifelong season ticket holder. Most of all, he was a beloved ‘Papa’ to his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Anthony Spadorcia and his wife Kelleigh of Norwood, Jane Shea and her husband Michael of Reading, Joanne Fagan and her husband Scott of Stoneham, Julie Spadorcia of Reading, Jeanne Spadorcia of Milford, and Jill McGinnity and her husband Michael of Danvers, his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Conor, and Kathryn Shea, Bradley and Jeffrey Fagan, Joseph, Nicholas, and Emily Spadorcia, and Megan, Allison, and Johnny McGinnity, an uncle, Anthony Barrasso of East Boston, and a loving extended family. He was predeceased by two sisters, Dolores Chodrick and Marie Pastore.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 11AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Monday from 5-8PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
