SAN DIEGO, CA: William Francis Mamede, Jr., 61, passed away suddenly at his home on May 3, 2012. He was born on January 19, 1951. Bill was the youngest man in the tuna fisheries to attain the rating of Chief Engineer, and he fished out of Somora. He attended school in San Diego, CA, Gloucester, MA and Las Vegas, NV. Bill is survived by his mother, Cora Montez Brown; his uncle, John Sutton; special cousins, Jim Lobel of San Diego and Margaret York all of Gloucester as well as many other cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Marlo Mamede, who was lost at sea; his father, William F. Mamede of San Diego, CA and his stepfather, Ralph K. Brown of Gloucester. A memorial funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 11th in the Our Lady of Good Voyage Church at 9:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
