Obituary

Richard M. “Dick” Brooks, 54, of Alden St., Mystic, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Gloversville, NY on April 8, 1950 the son of the late Arthur E. and Maude M. Brooks. Raised in mystic, he attended local schools and was a 1968 graduate of Stonington High School.

Dick enjoyed a long career as a Foreman Pipefitter/welder with Local Union 777, working at Pfizer and several construction companies. Throughout his career, he was proud of his accomplishments, from serving his 5year apprenticeship, becoming a journeyman, and eventually becoming a Foreman.

Dick enjoyed hunting and fishing and took great pride in his family.

He was married to Nena G.M. Brooks in Mystic in 2001, who survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Robbin Brooks of Waterford and Michael Brooks of Mystic, 2 stepsons, Joshua Melzer and Donald Melzer Jr. and stepmother, Jess Brooks; his siblings, Arthur Brooks Jr of Missouri, Kenneth Brooks of New London, Deborah Ward of preston and Timothy Brooks of Groton; 8 ½ grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 3 siblings, Dennis and Edward Brooks, and Cindy Morris.

His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Sunday from 5-7 and Monday from 10-10:45am, immediately follwed by a service at 11am. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery.
