Mrs. Meda Coakley
Augusta, GA – Mrs. Meda Coakley, 86, entered into rest on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Westwood Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue Chapel with Rev. Wally Hoyle officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Meda was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Joseph James Coakley. She lived in Augusta her whole life and attended Tubman High School when it was an all girls school. Meda enjoyed the time that she spent serving in the nurseries of both Crawford Avenue and Morningside Baptist Churches where she was affectionately known as “MeMe”. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy.
Meda is survived by her son, James William Coakley of Augusta; her daughters, Pamela Coakley Baldwin of Evans and GeJuan Coakley Waters of Augusta; her brothers, Curtis D. Wilson of Young Harris, GA and Robert D. Wilson of Augusta; her sister, Sarah W. Montgomery of Augusta; her grandchildren, Joanna Nicolle Baldwin, Trey Welsh, Chris Welsh, and Rachel Allen; her six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ben Waters, Phil Baldwin, Chris Welsh, Trey Welsh, Johnny Mellus, and Bob Wilson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, June 8, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
