Salem: Carolyn L. (Potts) Powers Morency, age 85, died Sunday morning, June 3, 2012 at her home following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Robert P. Morency with whom she had shared 21 years of marriage.
Born in Portland, Maine and raised in Somerville, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Ernest S. and Leta M. (Severance) Potts. Carolyn worked as an underwriter for the St. Paul Insurance Company for many years. Following her retirement, she and her husband Bob wintered in Pinellas Park, Florida and returned to Salem for the summer. Prior to her illness she was a member of the Salem Council on Aging.
She is survived by 2 sons, David Hardy of Revere, Timothy Powers and his wife Denise of Concord, NH, a daughter, Donna Knerr and her husband Fred of Vero Beach, FL, a step-son, Robert J. Morency of Salem, MA, 6 grandchildren, Robert, Corey, Steven & Brandon Hardy, Laura Richie and Suzanne Sabataso, as well as 3 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visiting hours on Wednesday from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M., to be followed by her funeral service in the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem, MA at 6:00 P.M.
