Obituary

Joseph "Joe" A. McComiskey, 81, of Punta Gorda, Florida, formerly of Lawrence, MA., passed away Thursday, May 31st, 2012 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte Florida.

Joe was born on June 20, 1930 in Lawrence to the late Joseph D. and Edna (Holland) McComiskey. He was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Class 1947. Joe served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a graduate of Merrimack College in North Andover, MA., Class of 1962. He worked for the Boston Globe as a Stereotyper for over 20 years. A retired public high school teacher, Joe moved to Punta Gorda from his native Massachusetts in 1996. An avid bowler, Joe toured regularly with the Amateur Bowling Tour, and was a member of the USBC, United States Bowling Congress. He was Roman Catholic.

He is survived by his wife, Justine M. (Devlin); daughter Joan E. (Husband Tim) Flynn of Punta Gorda; son Joseph A. (Wife Karen) McComiskey of Campton, NH; seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren; a sister, Claire Belisle of NH, four nieces and two nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to call on Wednesday, June 6th, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., 35 Merrimack Street, North Andover, MA. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 7th, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Michaels Church in North Andover, MA. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
