GILFORD, NH: Barbara F. (Barry) Masterman, 87, died peacefully on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at the Lakes Region General Hospital following a period of declining health.
She was born in Natick on June 14, 1924 the daughter of the late Howard L. Barry and Elizabeth F. (Gibson) Barry.
Barbara is survived by her devoted children Pamela E. Chadwick of Gilford, NH; Charles H. Masterman of Southborough and Paul L. Masterman of Townsend. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was the wife for 50 years of the late Charles F. Masterman who died on June 12, 2003.
Barbara has been a resident of Gilford, NH for the past several years and previously resided in Norway, Maine. For over 33 years she resided on Southborough and then retired to Avon Park, FL for 17 years. She also resided in Cochituate with her family and spent her formative years in Natick. She was a graduate of Natick High School with the Class of 1942. For many years she was a Clerk-Typist with Suburban Temporaries before retiring. She was an active member of the First Community Church of Southborough and served as their organist for many years. Barbara was a member of the Woodmen of the World, she enjoyed reading, making personal cards and traveling with her daughter to Grand Caymans. Besides her love of traveling, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family.
Her visitations will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2012 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the First Community Church of Southborough, 137 Southville Road, Southborough followed by her funeral service at 11:30 am.
Interment will follow in the Masterman family lot in Rural Cemetery in Southborough.
In lieu of flowers her family suggests that memorial gifts in her memory may be sent to the Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, 15 Strawberry Avenue, Lewiston, ME 04240 or to the First Community Church of Southborough.
