Obituary

GLOUCESTER: James “Peter” Salah, Jr., 54, died, June 1, 2012 in the Addison Gilbert Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a long illness.
Born in Gloucester on June 23, 1957, he was the son of the late James P. and Nancy (Hinckley) Salah. He attended St. Mel’s Day School and was a graduate of Gloucester High School class of 1975. For several years Peter managed the family owned Salah Market in Gloucester. In his younger days he enjoyed most sports which included baseball, hockey, football and most of all playing flag football at Burnham’s Field. He won the “punt, pass and kick’’ contest when he was a Pee Wee football player. Peter was an avid fan of all the New England sports teams.
He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer L. Salah of Gloucester; a granddaughter, Alexis G. Athanas of Gloucester; two sisters, Rhonda Salah-Gaglio, wife of Paul Gaglio of Westwood and Amy Salah of Newport Beach, CA; his loving and devoted niece, Ashley Gaglio of Westwood; an aunt, Adele Kelly of Gloucester; an uncle, John J. Salah of Gloucester and many cousins.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday in the Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church at 10:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester from 4 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery, Gloucester.
