TAUNTON – Diamantino M. Duarte, 69, died on June 2, 2012 following a battle with cancer lasting several weeks.
A Taunton resident since 1977, he was the husband of Maria E. (Almeida) Duarte.
Born in St. Michael, Azores, Mr. Duarte was the son of the late Maria das Dores Pauline Medeiros.
He was educated in the Azores, and later served in the Portuguese Army.
A machinist by trade, Mr. Duarte was employed by the Royce Aluminum Company for many years, and was also employed by Avon Zatec, Inc., retiring several years ago due to disability.
He was a communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Anabela D. Oliveira and her husband Jose, and Patricia C. Duarte, all of Taunton; and a grandson, Cesar M. Oliveira of Taunton.
Mr. Duarte was also the grandfather of the late Ruben A. Oliveira.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Thursday, June 7th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
