Elizabeth A. (Heney) Danahy age 87 of Brockton, died peacefully Tuesday May 29, 2012 at her home. She was the loving wife for 59 years of the late John F. Danahy. Elizabeth was born and raised in Brockton a daughter of the late John and Nellie (Byrnes) Heney and remained a lifelong resident of the city. Following graduation from Brockton High School and Katherine Dell Secretarial School in Boston, she was employed as a medical secretary. Later she worked for twenty five years in the Brockton Social Security office as a service representative.
Elizabeth enjoyed oil painting and studied under the direction of the late Robert Arthur. She had been a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Karen Danahy of Brockton with whom she made her home and three sons Michael F. Danahy and his wife Julie of Carver, James M. Danahy and his wife Maryjane of Duxbury and Mark F. Danahy and his wife Diane of Raynham. She also leaves ten grandchildren Christopher, Megan, Erin, Matthew, Rachael, Mark, Kate, Kelley, Michael and Mikayla. She was the sister of Mary Larkin of Bridgewater and the late Eleanor Doody, Katherine Kianski and Robert “Bob”, Joseph and John Heney. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Friday 4-8 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Saturday at 8 at followed by Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9 am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
