Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Joanne L. (L’Archeveque) Smith, 56, of the East Springfield section of Springfield was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family and her wonderful caregivers. She was born in Springfield on November 16, 1955, a beloved daughter of the late Jean Yves L’Archeveque and Therese F. (Jasmin) L’Archeveque. She was raised in Springfield, attended Forest Park Jr. High School and graduated from the former Technical High School in 1973. She was a lifelong resident of the city and had lived in the East Springfield section of the city since 1987. She had previously been employed at Mold Con Electronics in West Springfield and had last worked for 12 years as an install sales coordinator at Lowes Home Improvement Center in Springfield. She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Hope Church in Springfield. During her leisure time, Joanne enjoyed puttering around her home with various projects, working in her garden and doing yard work. She enjoyed her family and her home and especially enjoyed her "sister" days where she would go shopping and to lunch with her sister, Renee. She was a loving woman who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She leaves her devoted husband and best friend, Michael J. Smith. They were married on May 31, 1975 and were two days shy of celebrating 37 years of happiness together. She also leaves her beloved sister and friend, Renee A. L'Archeveque of East Springfield; her brothers, Mario A. L'Archeveque and Michael M. L'Archeveque; and the love of her life, her cherished godson, Eric S. Adams of Agawam. She will also be missed by her loving companions, her dog, Shelby and her cat, Shadoe. Her funeral will be held on Monday morning, June 4, 2012 beginning at the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Name Church, 323 Dickinson Street, Springfield, MA 01108. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, June 3, 2012 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Thomas J.
