Rockland – Lois Ann (Caruso) Mahon 71 was promoted to “Angel” surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday May 29th. She was the longtime partner to James Watt Jr. of Rockland.
Born and raised in Weymouth she was the daughter of the late Louis and Faye (Regine) Caruso and a graduate of Weymouth High, Class of 1958.
For many years she was a familiar and friendly face working with her treasured students as a teacher’s aide at the Esten Elementary School in Rockland.
Lois was a lively, spirited, nurturing woman full of humor, warmth and love. She had a special gift of making everyone feel loved and of making everyday moments just a little more memorable. She always put other people before herself, and reminded us to “Enjoy the good times life has to offer”.
She will be remembered for her gorgeous and lush gardens, her “better than you can imagine” cooking, her annual Fourth of July parties and her Christmas Eve feasts. She was also known for her delightful “Cake Lady” cakes.
She loved camping and spending time by the water but her greatest joy came from the time spent with her devoted family.
Lois will continue to be a big smile in our hearts, and will be forever watching us from above.
She is survived by her loving children Dean Mahon and his wife Lynn of Whitman, and Danielle Girouard and her husband Michael of Nashua, NH. She was also a beloved stepmother to Tim Smith of West Virginia, Kim Henderson of Middleboro, Tracey Tsina of Carver, Jamie CeCe of Cranston, RI and their families. In addition she is survived by her former spouse Tom Mahon, Jr., her sister Verna Rizzi of Dedham, her brother Leonard Caruso of Biloxi, MS, and her thirteen grandchildren whom she adored, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and students.
Her funeral service will be held Saturday June 2nd at 5 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service from 1-5 PM.
