Mrs. Catena Carnazzo, age 89, passed away in her home Monday following a brief illness. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Lucia (Razza) and Paolo Salamone. She was the beloved wife of the late Michele Carnazzo. Mrs. Carnazzo was a Somerville resident for fifty-seven years formerly of Boston´s North End and Sicily. She worked for many years as a hand stitcher and finisher in Boston´s garment district. She was a member of the International Ladies garment Workers Union. In addition to her late husband and parents, Mrs. Carnazzo is preceded in death by her son Michael Carnazzo, two brothers, Peter and Angelo Salamone, and one sister, Bridget Lombardo. She is survived by three sons, Joseph of Somerville, Paul of Lowell, Peter of Pelham, NH. Three daughters, Lucy Chiarello, Caroline “Nina” Collerone and Bridget Pugliese all of Somerville. She is also survived by thirty grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother Charlie Salamone of Wakefield and many other relatives in Italy.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford, Friday at 9 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Ann Church 399 Medford St. Somerville, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Boston
