Evelyn "Evie" (Vasconcelles) Bowers, 86, of Dartmouth died Monday May 28, 2012 at Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Captain Arnold Woodrow "Woody" Bowers.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Antone and Clara (Sousa) Vasconcelles, she lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth all of her life.
She leaves her loving children, Deborah Bowers of Dartmouth, Gail Marchetta and her husband Giovanni of Fairhaven, Susan Murray and her husband Roderick of Dartmouth, Arnold "Skip" Bowers and his wife Jackie of Dartmouth, and Robert Bowers and his wife Maureen of New Bedford. She is survived by two sisters, Mary Vasconcelles of New Bedford and Lorraine Rodrigues of Mattapoisett. She was the cherished "Nana" of Bobby, Jenna, Ryan, and Alessandra and is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Antonio Vasconcelles.
Evie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and had a passion for creating beautiful heirloom crafts which now become more special than ever!
She loved long drives to "anywhere" especially if they ended with a cone of coffee ice cream, and she especially loved her trips to St. Augustine, Florida with her children.
Evie touched many people's lives and she will truly be missed by all who knew her.
