Ruth Ann Purcell, 69, of Derry, NH died Monday May 28, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Lawrence, MA. February 27, 1943, and was a daughter of the late William and Rita (Bradish) Marion. She was raised and educated in the Lawrence area, and had been a resident of Derry since 1983, having previously resided in Auburn.
Ruth was employed as a waitress during her working life. She worked at several establishments, most notably, she was the owner of “Ruthie’s Cozy Corner” of Derry and worked at the Derry Restaurant for over 10 years. Mrs. Purcell enjoyed bingo and crocheting, and was a diehard fan of the Boston Red Sox.
Members of the family include her husband of 36 years, Richard J. Purcell of Derry, five sons, Michael Messina of Manchester, Morris Messina of Derry, Dwayne Dee of Hooksett, Wayne Dee of Fayetteville, NC and Scott Purcell of Manchester, two daughters, Kim Dutton of Hooksett, and Penny Pare, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, a sister, Judith Palleschi of Litchfield and many grandchildren and great grandchildren
Calling hours were held Thursday May 31, 2012 from 4pm to 7pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Catholic prayer service followed at 7pm in the funeral home. Interment of her cremated remains will be at Auburn Village Cemetery at a later date.
