Obituary

Mr. Alfred M. “Alfie” Crowe, 59, of Medford, died on Monday at home following a lengthy illness surrounded by his beloved, long time companion Meg Colclough and friends. Born in Ireland, son of the late Patrick and Rita (Ballinger) Crowe, he was educated there and emigrated from Ireland to the United States in 1982 where he settled in Quincy. He later moved to Medford. Mr. Crowe worked as a painter, most recently for the Commonwealth of Mass. where he painted and worked on many structures owned by the state. In earlier years he was self employed. Alfie will be remembered as an outgoing, congenial man who was kind and funny. He loved and cared deeply for the elderly in the community. Mr. Crowe was a noted dog lover and had his faithful companion “Popeye” constantly at his side. One of his favorite places for travel was Aruba. He and Meg would vacation there whenever possible.
In addition to his beloved companion of 16 years Meg Colclough and faithful sidekick Popeye, he is survived by several brothers and sisters in Ireland, Desmond, Patrick and William Crowe, Olive Murphy, Florence Considine and a sister Mary Coveney of England. Brother of the late Caroline O’Halloran. Funeral from the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 306 Main Street Medford, on Saturday at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Francis of Assisi Church 441 Fellsway West, Medford at 10 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Alfie’s name may be sent to the Michael J. Dunleavy Foundation, PO Box 325 Winchester, MA 01890. Interment at a later date in Ireland.
