Obituary

William H. Duffy, age 92, a lifelong resident of Natick, died on Friday afternoon, May 25, 2012, at Mary Ann Morse Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Natick after a brief illness.

Born on August 11, 1919, he was the son of the late Charles and Sarah (Heffernan) Duffy. After attending the Natick Public schools, William joined the Army National Guard and served with the infantry for the entirety of World War II. A veteran of the Invasion of Normandy and campaigns throughout the European and African Middle Eastern Theatres, he was the recipient of many awards and citations, among them the Bronze Star Medal for Valor and the Croix de Guerre.

William married the former Margaret Fortini in 1950, and the couple made a home in Natick where they raised their son. William worked throughout his career as a janitor in the MetroWest area, ultimately retiring from a longtime position with Bernardi Toyota. He and Margaret had enjoyed evenings out dancing for many years.

He is survived by his wife; their son, Robert Duffy and his wife Kay of Indianapolis, IN; grandsons Kevin, Alan and Brian; and a sister, Rita Sheehan of Natick.

His funeral will be held at the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, Natick, on Wednesday, May 30th at 1:00p.m. Burial with military honors will follow at Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Natick.
