LUDLOW - Surrounded by her loving family, Vivian Evelyn (Gelinas) Santaniello, 86, entered into Eternal Life on Saturday, May 26, 2012. Vivian was born in Chicopee on February 18, 1926, the only child of William and Yvonne (Henault) Gelinas. She was raised in Chicopee, and lived in Springfield for 60 years before returning to Chicopee for 20 years. She later moved to Ludlow where she resided for the past several years. Her passions in life were her devotion to her loving family and her exuberant zest for living life to the fullest. Vivian’s love of music and dancing lasted well into her later life. Her warmth and kindness touched all those who knew her. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends. Vivian was predeceased by her loving husband, John Santaniello, who passed away in 1987; and her companion of 20 years, Donald Lavoie. Vivian leaves: her six children, Carol Kwasnik and her husband William, of Marlton, NJ, Gail Malone and her husband, Jack, of Belchertown, Thomas Santaniello and his wife, Diane and Debra McNally and her husband, Charles, all of Springfield, Barbara Messier and her husband, William, of Ware and Tina Colucci and her husband, David, of Chicopee. She also leaves: 13 grandchildren, Michael and Steven Kwasnik, Jill Scott, John Malone, Thomas, John and Anthony Santaniello, Karen MacConnell, Melissa Rogers, Christine Quiterio, Bryan Messier, Daniel McNally and Lorin Colucci, as well as 16 great-grandchildren. Her family would like to extend their grateful appreciation to the staff and caregivers at Keystone Commons in Ludlow, where she resided for the past several years. The family would also like to thank the Mercy Hospital medical and nursing staff for their compassion and kindness that was given to Vivian and her family. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, May 30, 2012 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Michael’s Cathedral, 254 State Street, Springfield, MA 01103. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109.
