Dorothy E. A. Curtis
Dorothy E. A. Curtis of Englewood, FL passed away Saturday, March 24, 2012. She was born September 3, 1915 in Massachusetts and had homes in Tewksbury, MA; West Newfield, ME; and Englewood. She was a communicant of the South Tewksbury Methodist Church in MA, the United Congregational Church in Maine, and the Englewood United Methodist Church in Florida.
Dorothy was married to Merton E. Curtis, Sr. from July 1956 to January 2008. She served with the U. S. Coast Guard from August 1944 to May 1946; working in intelligence in Washington D. C. Dorothy earned her Law Degree from Northeastern University in Boston, MA and was Office Administrator for the law firm of Sloane and Walsh at 10 Tremont Street, Boston for 30 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Sally D. Curtis of Portsmouth NH; brother, Walter R. Ackles of Niagara Falls, NY; grandson, Jon D. Curtis of Killington, VT; granddaughter, Kelley A. Curtis of Denver, CO; nieces, Holly Myers and Jennifer Ackles of Niagara Falls, NY; and great-granddaughters, Alta M. Curtis of Killington, VT; and Sophia and Aniston Francis of Denver, CO.
A Memorial Service was held on April 4th in the Doan Chapel of the Englewood United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Englewood, FL 34287 or the Englewood United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 700 E. Dearborn Street, Englewood, FL 34223.
A graveside ceremony will be held at the Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East Street in Tewksbury, MA at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 2, 2012. A reception will follow at 12:00 in the Fellowship Hall of the Tewksbury Methodist Church on route 38 in South Tewksbury, MA.
