Angelo Boncore passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday. He was 93.
Angelo was born and raised in East Boston, the son of the late Charles and Luisa (Rizzo) Boncore. Angelo was a musician throughout his entire life, playing the bass, guitar and harmonica. Angelo was a proud veteran of the US Army who served in harbor and coastal defense in the earliest days of World War II. His band played country music in its early days and was known as the Ranch Boys. They got an early break to increase their popularity through an appearance on TV’s Chance of a Lifetime. Later the band was named the Hy-Lo Trio. They played all-over New England and even at the Latin Quarter in New York. They were a fixture at dinner theaters, Lowell’s Summer Festivals, Faneuil Hall and at Joey and Maria’s Wedding. He and his family lived in Revere for 15 years, where Angelo started the 4 Leaf Skating Club. A Medford resident for nearly 45 years, Angelo gave his last performance at age 90.
The beloved husband of the late Alma (Emery), he was a devoted father to Charles Boncore and his wife Carol of NH, Alma Lekus and her husband Paul, Pamela Thompson, Angela Boncore, all of Medford and Angelo Boncore and his wife Brenda of Florida. He was a loving grandfather to Charles Boncore and his wife Brenda, Alyssa Boncore, Richard Thompson and a loving great-grandfather to Jillian and William Boncore.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday evening, May 25th from 6 thru 8 concluding with a funeral service in the funeral home at 8 PM. Interment will be private.
