Dorothy “Edmunds” Berkeley daughter of Harriet Harris and Daniel Edmunds, of Birmingham England. Born on July 21, 1934 in Birmingham England. Departed us on May 22, 2012 at 10:13 am in the Town of River Edge, New Jersey.
Dorothy & Alwyn Berkeley, met in Birmingham England in 1960, and they fell love and married in 1961. Shortly after they welcomed their first child a daughter (Elaine) 1962.. On August 15, 1965, Dorothy began her travel with her young daughter on the “Queen Mary Ship” to America to be with her husband Alwyn . Dorothy and Alwyn began their new life in the Bronx New York. In 1966, they welcomed the arrival of their second child , another daughter Laraine. Everyone who knew Dorothy, was aware she was a dancer and shaker. Back in Dorothy’s days her favorite song was “Long Tall Sally” by Little Richard. Dorothy loved all music, she also enjoyed gardening, crafts ,and crochet. Dorothy was the most patient person, warm and caring. Dorothy instilled manners and self respect in her children and her grandchildren. Everyone who knew Dorothy knows how much she enjoyed her cup of tea, anytime of the day and any kind of weather it didn’t matter, Tea was Dorothy’s sanctuary. Dorothy, was a teacher, a friend, comedian, counselor, and shoulder to lean on.. It didn’t matter what turmoil was gong on, mom always had a positive perspective on life.
Dorothy is survived by her sister Muriel Downing in Hereford England, brother Kenneth Edmunds, in Birmingham England., her daughters Elaine and LaRaine. Grandchildren , Ronald, Justin ,Destiny, Chloe, Zoey and Laraine. Great grand children, Madyson and Hailey. Along with a host of nieces, nephews family and friends.
