Eleanor C. (Cooper) Patterson, 94, of the Rochdale section of Leicester and formerly of Waterloo, Iowa died Saturday, May 19 in the Meadows of Leicester after an illness.
Her husband William D. Patterson died in 1981. She leaves two step-sons, John W. Patterson and his wife Bergit of Holden and Douglas W. Patterson and his wife Elizabeth of Toronto, Canada, six grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren. She also leaves several nieces and nephews including Marjorie Cooper, James Cooper, David Cooper and Richard Cooper and his wife Lisa all of Rochdale and Mary Lou Klymus and Nancy Mizelle both of North Carolina. She was pre-deceased by brothers James Harold, Edward Vaughn and William Wallace Cooper.
Mrs. Patterson was born in Worcester, daughter of James A. and Cora L. (Raymond) Cooper. She graduated from Leicester High School, The Bishop-Lee School in Boston in 1940 and Salter Secretarial Evening Division in 1945. She was a department head of the inventory ledges at Norton Co. in Worcester for 40 years retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Green Mountain Hiking Club. She enjoyed the theatre, gardening, blueberry picking and cooking a good meal. In her retirement years she pursued genealogy, learning to use the computer and revisiting relationships with distant relatives.
At Mrs. Patterson’s request funeral services and burial in Greenville Baptist Cemetery in Rochdale are private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. MORIN-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester is directing arrangements.
