Salem: Therese E. Dumas, age 84 of Swampscott and formerly of Salem, died Monday evening, May 21, 2012 at the Jewish Rehabilitation Center in Swampscott, following a long illness. She was the wife of the late Eugene H. Dumas.
Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late James and Claudia (LeBlanc) D’Entremont. Therese worked in the warehouse office for Unitrode and later for Parker Brothers Games for many years. She retired from Rich’s Department Store in Salem.
Therese moved to Swampscott from Salem, to live with her daughter Susan. While living in Swampscott she was a crossing guard for the town. She was a member of the AARP and a member of the former St. Joseph Parish of Salem. Therese was very devoted to her family and her large extended family. She was also enormously proud of her Nova Scotia / New Brunswick heritage.
She is survived by a son, Robert W. Dumas and his wife Sandra J. of Salem, two daughters, Lorraine C. McClelland and her husband Lawrence of Mentor, OH, Susan R. LeClerc of Swampscott, 10 grandchildren, Robert W. Dumas, Jr., Derek R. Dumas, Danielle & Carrie McClelland, Nicole & Amanda LeClerc, Randi Taaffe & Colin Matthew LeClerc, Tammy and Christopher LeClerc. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Cecile Girard and her brother, Victor D’Entremont.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at 8:30 A.M. to be followed by her funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, Humphrey St., Swampscott at 10 A.M. Visiting Hours will be, Friday 4 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
