Obituary

WORCESTER-James J. Courtney, 84, of 127 Glendale Street died Sunday, April 25th in Memorial Hospital. He leaves his wife of 58 years Florence A. “Ann” (Wynne) Courtney, 3 daughters Theresa A. Dyer of Enfield, CT, Jean Courtney Yarrows of Hadley and Jacqulyn M. Courtney of Worcester, a brother Richard Courtney of Shrewsbury, 2 sisters Theresa Larson of Boylston and Ann Tanona of Worcester, and a granddaughter Courtney Dyer of Enfield. A daughter Christine S. Courtney, 2 brothers Edward and William Courtney, and 2 sisters Eleanor and Catherine Courtney predeceased him.

He was born in Worcester the son of William F. and Nellie E. (Sheehan) Courtney. Mr. Courtney was a Word War 2 Army veteran. He had worked for over 30 years at Worcester Boys Trade School retiring in 1985. Mr. Courtney was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church and a former member of the Aldrich Astronomical Society.

The funeral is Thursday, April 29th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 341 June Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday, April 28th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
