Obituary

Michael W. Wasiejko age 65 of Salem, NH, died Sunday at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, NH.

A retired writer, Mike worked in the network and communication industry for over 25 years before retiring in 1998. He grew up in Lawrence, MA, where he graduated from Lawrence High School in 1956. He later earned a degree in Electronics Engineering Technology from the University of Lowell.

Mike also retired from a 37-year military career spanning 5 decades, from 1956 to 1998. He served over 12 years with the United States Air Force as a Staff Sargent, supporting the Suez Canal, Berlin, and Cuban Missile Crisis. He helped map the Atlantic and Pacific missile ranges at the beginning of the NASA Space Program while assigned to the 138th first Geodetic Squadron in Orlando, FL.

Additionally, Mike served over 25 years as an Electronics Chief Petty Officer in the US Coast guard Reserve, assigned as the Administration and Training Chief in Support center Boston. His broad technical and writing skills were often used during annual active duty assignments, including the production of the 1990 brochure for Boston Lighthouse during the 200th anniversary of the United States Coast Guard.

He was a member and past Post Commander of the Salem VFW Post 8546, Commander of the Salem W.T. Barron DAV Chapter 25, A member of the Salem Veteran’s Council, American Legion post 63, Amvets post 3, Boston chapter of the USCG Chief Petty Officer’s Association, and Branch 338 of the Fleet reserve in Hudson, NH. Mike also served on the Planning board in Salem, NH, where he helped coordinate Salem’s 250th Anniversary Parade.

He was the Son of the late Michael J. and Teresa A. (Cikacz) Wasiejko

He was predeceased by his wife Helen (Maker) Wasiejko

He is survived by 2 Daughters: Sharrie & her Husband Brian Page of Hampton, NH Ann Marie & her Husband Jeffery Jones of Manchester, NH

1 Son: John & his Wife Janet Wasiejko of Manchester, NH

1 Brother James Wasiejko of Florida

1 Sister: Claire Rajewski of Missouri

7 Granddaughters, 3 Grandsons

2 Step Sons: Steven Murphy of Salem, NH, and Neil & his Wife Trina Murphy of Manchester, NH

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 10 Am at St. Joseph Church, Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem, NH.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 3-7 PM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main Street, Salem, NH.
