Mary L. (Butler) Panus, 78, of Canton formerly of Abington, died on Tuesday May 22nd after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Chester S. Panus.
She was born in Boston, daughter of the late Bartley and Rose Ann (Doucette) Butler. Mary was a graduate of South Boston High School.
Mary lived in Abington for many years, raising her family. She enjoyed making quilts for her family and donated some to charities. Mary was an avid reader, enjoyed, painting, drawing, writing and genealogy. She had an interest in the Polish Culture and History and was a member of the Stetson Kindred of America in Norwell.
She was the mother of the late Christine (Panus) Pietroski. She is survived by her children, Michael Panus of Warren, NH, Stephen Panus of Sagamore, MA and Patricia(Panus) Gillcrist of Bellingham, MA.; grandmother of eleven and great-grandmother of six; also many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Joseph Butler Sr.
Family and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Thursday May 24th from 4:00-8:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel. Her funeral will be held on Friday May 25th at 9:00AM from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00AM in the St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1 Maquan St. Hanson, MA. Burial will follow in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Rockland, MA.
